If you’re looking for a well-balanced, smooth, and bold Chardonnay that’s under $20, La Crema Chardonnay could be the best choice for you. It has a lush mouthfeel, creamy texture, and refreshing taste.
The La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay has received multiple recognitions from wine critics/experts.
This Chardonnay is produced by La Crema which was founded in 1979 in California and Oregon. In 2019, they celebrated La Crema’s 40th anniversary. During this year, they were able to produce some of their best wines including the La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay.
Drinking this wine, I knew that Sonoma Coast Chardonnays would have a bit more acidity and tartness than other Chardonnays. However, it’s still in the mid-acidity level compared to other wines because the creamy texture and oak flavor balances out everything.
This bottle has the signature La Crema label with a convenient screw cap for easy opening and quick pouring. The glass looks simple and doesn’t contain any information. On the glass, this wine has almost a lemon, light gold color.
On the nose, this wine has citrus, tropical fruit, and oak smell. There’s orange, crisp green apple, lemon, and floral notes.
The taste of the La Crema Chardonnay confirms what I smell. The citrus fruits and lemons are in front, the tropical fruits in the mid-palate, and the oak and vanilla in the background.Â
This wine is medium-bodied Chardonnay, with a crisp refreshing quality but also has a slight creamy texture that lingers in your mouth and creates a nice finish.
You can purchase the La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay in Drizly, Vivino, Total Wine, Safeway, Bevmo, Walmart, Target, and other wine retailers. Its price is around ~$20.Â
On the La Crema website, it retails for $23. Currently on Vivino its selling for $17.99 right now.Â
The La Crema Chardonnay doesn’t have a strong oak flavor, but you’ll find it somewhere in the background of your palate. The producer uses French oak as their primary choice for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, giving a more subtle oak and vanilla flavor.Â

Yes, the La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay has a buttery texture. But it also has a crisp and refreshing taste that provides a great balance of dryness and acidity.
