When I say Costco Champagne, it doesn’t necessarily mean their Kirkland brand because you can find many well-known, delicious Champagnes at Costco for the BEST price!
For example:
All of these well-known (and some of the best) Champagnes all sell in Costco for some of the best prices compared to what I see anywhere online or in-stores. And they also sell many other sparkling wines.
But let’s get back to the actual Costco Champagne, also known by their brand, Kirkland Signature Brut Champagne.
It is one of the most affordable Champagnes on the market. But in my opinion it doesn’t compete with the Champagnes I’ve mentioned above.
But if you are looking specifically for Champagne at the lowest price, then Kirkland Signature Champagne is a great option.
Take note: Champagnes are sparkling wines grown specifically in France’s Champagne region. And they must be produced using the Champagne Method, aka “Traditional” method.
It has an aroma of green apple and citrus, with hints of vanilla, almonds, and toast.
You can taste the green apple, lemon, pear, and other citrus flavors, followed by notes of brioche and toast. There is a nice balance of flavors with crisp acidity and a slightly creamy mouthfeel.
My recommendation on this – while Costco Champagne is a solid entry-level one, there are far better options you can find at Costco (premium Champagne at the best price).
For example, if you are looking for the same price range (~$20) Roederer Estate from Anderson Valley is a great choice. But take note that it is a California Sparkling wine, not an authentic Champagne from France. However, in my opinion, I would choose it over the Kirkland Champagne.
And if you truly want to experience and enjoy a good Grand Cru Champagne, why not spend a little more (especially if you are celebrating)?
And I would get one of the following:
